The first step was to research which legal forms could be considered in order to ultimately create workable structures. The evaluation of the research results was always done jointly, i.e. by German and Polish initiators.

As a result, the following structures were identified and the foundation dates set:

1. on 08.05.2005 – establishment of the Polish Foundation for the Reconstruction of the Town and Main Church

Due to legal objections to the use of the land by the Polish foundation, this foundation date had to be postponed.
However, this was notarised on 10 June 2005.
Mr. Peter Dreißig and Mr. Günter Quiel from Guben took part in the foundation meeting. The statute of the Polish foundation was confirmed and is its working basis.

2. 09.05.2005 – Foundation of the German Association for the Reconstruction of the Town and Main Church

At the founding meeting, the board and the first statutes of the association were confirmed. Due to the postponement of the date for the establishment of the Polish Foundation and possible legal objections, a new founding meeting was held on 28.10.2005 as a precautionary measure and recorded in the minutes. At the same time, the revised statutes were confirmed.

3. foundation advisory board (supervisory bodies)

Following the establishment of the Polish Foundation, the Foundation Advisory Board was formed. The Foundation Advisory Board has the task of reviewing the activities of the Polish Foundation’s Board of Directors in particular and the provision of financial resources by both the Polish Foundation and the German Förderverein as required, to monitor the results achieved and to approve any financial expenditure greater than 10,000 zlotys.
