The town and main church was destroyed during the fighting for the Neisse town, from February to April 1945. Since then, its walls and tower have risen into the sky as ruins. It thus shared the fate of the churches on the Oder-Neisse border.
But while other churches have been gradually rebuilt over the past decades, it was only a few years ago that serious efforts were made to rebuild the city and main church.
With the reconstruction of the town and main church, the founders of the German association and the Polish foundation from the towns of Guben and Gubin are hoping for a continuous, common development and want the population of both towns to contribute to the realization through voluntary services and donations involved in the reconstruction.
